Bébé de juillet in Japan: Osaka

Osaka a city you can travel to when you feel stuffed with too much busy routine, everything is slower, calmer, and that’s surely not a bad thing. Sometimes you just need to slow down when you drive too fast, and that’s what I like about escaping to places where you can spend more time with yourself without having to go on meditating! 💭

I booked the flights arriving at Narita International Airport (Tokyo) and departing at Kansai International Airport (Osaka) ✈️ so that I do not have to waste my time traveling back and forth and spent too much money on Shinkansen that I could instead spend on another accessory I love. I focused my trip this time not going to the ‘touristy places’, but more to the hand-mades and the vintages.

These are only some of the shops I visited and fell in love with. So I was hoping I could share with people who are planning to visit Osaka someday. Some are quite mysterious and harder to find than the others but that is what beautiful about treasure hunting💖

Outfit of the day: Top from Topshop, Skirt from Zara, Bag from 3.1 Phillip Lim, Bracelet from Pandora, photo taken by Bug on Street.

This book (Zakkaな大阪 – かわいい発見ガイドブック) I found at Tapie Style did a little helping on guiding me through, even though I couldn’t read Japanese, the illustration gave me big persuasion to move around. The downside is that I have no way of knowing much of there information cause everything is in Japanese, I ended up visiting many shops on days they’re closed… So if you have time and know where you’d like to go, try to search for their closing days and opening hours beforehand.

Tapie Style is a cute handmade shop located in Minamisenba, you can take the exit number 3 of Shinsaibashi station and follow the map. (Opening hours: 12:30-19:30, closed on Wednesday.)

I actually like many shops spotted in this building but Foo shop and studio is my most-loved in the list. They sell all cuteness materials (fabrics, buttons etc.) that you can easily add up and make your own creations after. (Opening hours: 12:00-19:00, closed on Wednesdays.)

♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡

Citrus paper is a vintage stationary/zakka/second hand book store with lots and lots of paper goodies I wish to buy just to keep them forever. This shop gave me such a happy atmosphere. Everything here could be called ‘pretty vintage collectables’. If you are a fan of stamps and tea cups then you would adore this place as much as I do! Cheburashka (Чебура́шка) postcards and illustrations are also why this shop made me smile so much, yes and I mean the original Russian Cheburashka, not the remake ones! (Opening hours: 11:00-19:00)

♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡

Floor is a friendly vintage lady clothing store, with loads of style in one place but well selected and categorized. The shop is located on the 2nd floor of Murakami building (村上ビル), you can take the 2nd exit at Shinsaibashi station and follow the map. (Opening hours: 12:00-20:00, closed on Thursdays.)

♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡

My last stop in the area is Dieci (room 205, 207 and 208), an interior shop/exhibit space on the second floor of Shibata building. (Opening hours: 12:00-20:00, closed on Tuesdays.)

Room 208 on the day I went (13th July) had an exhibition called “SVENSK curated by dieci” here are my favorite ones:

Papier-mâché pieces by Anna Sjons Nilsson

Mina flickor (My Girls), woodworking pieces by Sverker Eklund

♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡ ♡

These are two items I found in Lindgren (リンドグレーン) an original handmade goodies shop (opening hours: 11:30 – 18:00 pm). Walking around Nakazaki-cho area gave me a feeling of exploring a mini artsy crafty village where there are so many nostalgic handmade shops and cafés. However, I went there on Tuesday and more than half of the shops are closed which is disappointing but still, they are adorable enough I could imagine how lively they would be on days they’re open! To get there you can either take the train to Umeda Station or Nakazakicho Station.

Cute shop display at Select Shop TenTen (closed on that day), the usual opening hours are from 13:00 – 19:00 on weekends and 14:00 – 19:00 on weekdays (irregular weekdays).

Bunny café (うさぎカフエ)

Nand room704 (opening hours 12:00-21:00).

Other shops in Nakazaki-cho I’d recommend would be: Jampot, Cocoro and Futura.

Pub I found on my last night in Osaka near the hotel I was staying, around Higobashi station.

The easiest way to follow all the shops in this blog post is to star all the Google Map locations I provided for you, so you’d know where to start and where to go next. But at the end of the day, the beauty of traveling is to close that guidebook (and my blog), let yourself decide where to walk to and start exploring.🌟

Happy hunting!

Bébé de juillet in Japan: Tokyo

No matter how many times or how long I’ve been to Tokyo, it never fails to surprise me with excitements. I had always been fascinated by those cities that never sleep, the ones that you can stroll around from day to night and won’t make you feel lonely nor bored, those that have so much for you to discover.

7th July: We landed at 7pm, 6 hours flight couldn’t take away our energy. We go straight out after checking in, walking around Shibuya, having our first meal and end the night at this cozy stylish bar called Mon (門) we found randomly around the area 💗🍷🍸💗🍷🍸💗🍷🍸💗

I ordered Cosmopolitan at first (my birthday drink!), then Scarlett O’Hara and Melon Fizz 🍹

8th July: My TokyoDisneySea day🎉🎉🎉 (you can check my previous post for more DisneySea photos and the sneak peek of my nails for The Nail Spell column).

My DisneySea treasures, yes I am a very Disney person:

And of course what I just couldn’t miss, Fantasmic! 🎆🎆 🎆

9th July: ☔️☔️☔️ After getting my nails done at Nail Salon Avarice 💅, I started walking around Harajuku area, here are shops with prettiest decorations!
PUNK CAKE (パンクケイク) is a vintage clothing store for girls, opens daily from noon to 8pm.
(outfit of the day: bucket hat from Palini Bangkok, denim top from Zara, vintage pants from Fendi, Pashli mini satchel from 3.1 Phillip Lim)

Takeshita Dori, Harajuku
WC store has the decoration of my dream room.

Santa Monica Crepes, me love neon signs💘

10th July: Top from Plew, denim shorts from American Apparel, bag from Né-net (found in Ragtag Harajuku), Relace Low Sneaker from Adidas.
BUG_5096 BUG_5058

Pocket (open from noon to 8pm, closed on wednesday)
This is one of my favorite store of the day, not just because of the store design itself but also because they sell vintage jewelries in decent price, and I have this thing for rings and bracelets so I just couldn’t resist…

Moomin House Café (open daily from 8am to 10.30pm) located in Tokyo Skytree Town Solamachi, if you happen to visit the area near Tokyo Skytree then don’t forget to go take photos with Moomin and friends while you can sit and have delicious desserts! They also sell food and Finnish drink (Glögi), cinnamon lovers don’t miss!

11th July: My friend Mook took me treasure hunting at Shimokitazawa.
(outfit of the day: vintage turtle neck top, skirt from Topshop, cat sandals from Croon, vintage Moschino Cheap & Chic backpack bought from PUNK CAKE.)

After a long walk, go grab yourself a cup of coffee, juice, whatever at Bio Ojiyan Café (Shimokitazawa branch). Recommended by Mook💙

Then I went back to Shibuya again to meet Renka, who later took me to pretty pastel places, my favorite is Roretta’s Room, which I had been following their instagram for a very long time!

Everything here is just so adorableeee 💘💘💘💘💘💘💘💘

We spent the evening walking around, taking PURIKURA and having dinner at AND PEOPLE. My favorite dish is Scallop risotto (recommended by Renka)💟
Here are some of the treasures I bought throughout my Tokyo trip🎀
Ariel passport holder from Jewelna Rose, Be My Baby iPhone case, purple pen, heart candy pouch and Aki-k‘s teddy earrings from Roretta’s Room, Dance Tonight purple bucket hat from WEGO, LOVE♡LETTER‘s Unicorn glitter heart earrings and Love Sick pin from Joe & Ruban, Vintage kitty pin from G2?, a pink book: Get Up Girly directed by AMO, an illustrated book: My Private Sleep by Tondabayashi Ran bought from PUNK CAKE. Now you see why Tokyo is so much fun!

12th July: Off to Osaka by Shinkansen, reading A Certain Smile by Françoise Sagan 🚄💨🏯
All about my Osaka trip will be on my next post.

Tokyo love

I’m currently in Tokyo for a short vacay, and it has been distracting me from everything else. I’m so in love with city, since my last visit I just knew I had to come back❤️

Yesterday was my birthday and I decided to visit Tokyo Disney Sea💘 you can never be too old for Disney! Mermaid Lagoon is my love since Ariel was my childhood favorite Disney Princess👑

Enough about my not-so-guilty pleasure, Today I went to get my nails done at Nail Salon Avarice for my up coming article on Cheeze Magazine, Kenya-san (the owner) and Kana-san (the nailist) has been very friendly to me and they had given me the perfect design for The Nail Spell💕 I can’t wait to go back and write about it. In fact I cant wait to go back and blog so much about everything here!

Here is a sneak peek of my nails today💛

I just need to think more before spending, it’s so easy to throw your cash out not just on the cute things but also the vintage and the food! It’s my second day here and I’d spent half the budget already…

Leaving to Osaka on Sunday, in the mean time visit my instagram for more photos🌸

My CNX Happy List

Some people believe in holidays where you spend your time relaxing and spacing yourself out from the busy routines. I space myself out from all that and just go shopping. Still very busy but I’m more than relaxed. Holiday vacay does not always have to be sitting near the beach doing nothing or lay on bed until 2 in the afternoon staring at the beautiful mountain view opposite to you. Sometimes vacation just means going out and discover new things (in many of our cases, to buy).Last weekend I went up north to Chiang Mai and I was so in love with the city itself without having to go all the way up the hills and mountains. Just the city, the busy city has all its fascination attracting me to move myself around town. It’s not the same kind of business you get from being in Bangkok either. Chiang Maian have this calm lifestyle, I feel like they just breathe in art everywhere they go and they are happy to have a slow-life routine like that.

(Newsboy Cap from Zara Men, black tee and boyfriend jeans from H&M, backpack in Navy from Moschino Cheap & Chic, black canvas slip on shoes from TOMS)

Here’s the list consist of places that make me broke :-P

The Booksmith: Unlike the usual bookstores, books here are not just well selected but unique. International bookstores in Bangkok are usually located in the department stores, so having daylight shining in gives me totally different feeling when I was inside.
Location: 11 Nimmanahaeminda Rd., Between Soi 1 & Soi 3

Samantan: Probably the first shop I walked past and just I have to come back to take a good look inside. I was not disappointed, but it took me less than a minute to spend on items there so I don’t know if I should be happy about that! The prices are decent though. If you come across Nimman area and you want unique/handmade non-tourist accessories then go grab your travel journal to note this place down!
Location: Between Nimmanahaeminda Soi 11-13 (near Mango Tango)

Manung Café: If you are a big fan of Jazz, Country and Oldies music then I guarantee you will fall in love with the playlists and live bands here. This place is well decorated, the food is good and they got a pool table too! It’s a good hangout place to end your day with friends.
Location: Nimmanahaeminda soi 2 Sukkasem

Baan Kang Wat: My favorite avenue in Chiang Mai, the shops are all inside wooden houses, I find most of my treasures here! GPS Location: 18.776288,98.948864
Here are some of the shops inside this avenue:
Nok Panich (Dai Studio): My number one favorite, everything’s handmade and glittery! I think what’s cute about this store is how it gives me the feeling of walking into someone’s art journal; so colorful, so free! What I also like is their different workshops daily and they do what they called ‘Bad Portrait’ of you too, in pretty colours ♡♡ (owner’s blog)

♡ Enough for Life: Their homemade/handmade items here are super adorable! I bought my Budsaba Fabric Bag from this lovely store. They also run a small guesthouse upstairs.

We Didn’t Land on the Moon Since 1987: Cocktail bar with a little art gallery inside. They do occasional parties and movie nights. The coziest place here with my iPod playlist kind of music. I recommend you to try their fruit mixed signature mojitos, Mango Mojito is the addiction!
Location: Sirimangkalajarn Road soi 3

Love 70s Second-hand Store: Nothing is cheaper than second-hand clothes in Sanpakoi Market but it might be too exhausting for you to look through that much clothes in order to find the right one. Love 70s already selected all vintage fabrics and clothes for you and sell them in half the price you’d get in Bangkok. Textile lovers don’t miss this!
Location: Near Horpra School, Sri Phum

Dibdee Binder: My number one favorite coffee shop in Chiang Mai, probably because I don’t like going into coffee shops just to take photos of the coffee with cactuses and post them on instagram. What I mean is that I would only visit coffee shops when they have either nice air-con on hot, sunny days or they sell something more than just coffee, which in this case is bookbinding and notebook! It’s sad they don’t have daily workshop though. But it’s still a great place to find perfect binding books in prices you can difinitely buy more than just one!
Location: Tha Pae Road, opposite to SCB Bank

Favorite items from the trip:

Budsaba floral bag from Enough for Life (Baan Kang Wat), fabric flower pin from Samantan, handmade denim decorated notebook from Dibdee

From left to right: Jewel friendship bracelet from Samantan, silver cross bracelet from Tha Pae Sunday walking street, Pandora Essence.
